Instructions for Elements of a Story: Use this powerpoint to review plot line, setting, character, and conflict.

Instructions for Setting Packet: Instructions for page 1 and page 4 are found within the packet. For pages 2 and 3, refer to the setting slides in Elements of a Story. You will write "location," "time," and "environment" on each Y chart (one word in each section). You will write down your observations about the two bedrooms for this portion of the assignment.

Instructions for Dawn and Mary: Use slide #17 found in Elements of a Story. Read through the short essay, underlining examples of characterization and labeling them. After reading, review the slides on conflict in Elements of a Story. Afterwards, respond to the prompt: Write about a time you experienced conflict, what you learned, and how you are different because of your experience. This can be done on the Dawn and Mary essay or on a separate sheet of paper.

Quarter 1 ends Friday, October 13th. This means that all 1st quarter assignments will be locked and can no longer be made up or changed. Your grade, however, can continue to be adjusted over the year.
